In 1904 tuberculosis threatened 90% of the population. Pittsburgh mobilized to defeat the disease, giving "a breath of hope" to its people and changing the course of public health forever. 2004 marks the American Respiratory Allianceメs 100th Anniversary and Media Post became a large part of the celebration by working on a 40-minute documentary highlighting the last 100 years of this amazing organization. Produced by Nancy Polinsky Johnson, モA Breath Of Hopeヤ recounts the fight against tuberculosis from the early 1900s through the 1950s and follows the Alliance to present day where they offer many programs and services to improve lung health. モThis is a benchmark moment for the American Respiratory Alliance. Not many organizations get the opportunity to celebrate 100 years of service and tell their story in such a creative way. Through the help of Media Post we were able to bring our history to life and leave a legacy for those who will follow us.ヤ says Merritt Holland Spier, Director of Development for the American Respiratory Alliance. The whole story, as well as the documentary, has been developed into a unique multimedia exhibit on display at the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center, 1212 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh, PA from December 28, 2004 through April 28, 2005. Hours of operation: 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM daily. |
